You’ll have beach elegance inside the charming Rookery Iii Community on the Fort Morgan Peninsula of Gulf Shores. Enjoy the home or step out to the white sands, blue waters of the coast. 45 seconds from community exit to Beach.
Every space has been well thought out with you in mind! Comfortable bedding, attractive home décor, light and airy yet seating for a full family (sectional sofa, dining table for. 3 Spacious Bedrooms (bed 1) King, (bed 2) Queen, and (bed 3) two full .; Two spacious bathrooms, washer and dryer, home full of trusted appliance brands. Access to use the following beach accessories: 10x10 tent, small umbrella, 4 beach chairs, toys and a beach cart to carry it all! Literally all you need to enjoy your time and want to return!
Screened patio and a deck for catching fresh air or building a fire (seasonal) all with a gorgeous view of the marsh! Tvs throughout the home, sound bar....we're only missing You!
Guests have access to all areas of the community. Two parking passes are available. If you need a third, let us know in advance as we will need to locate an available spot. 100 eu plus fees for third spot paid to the Community Owners Association. Failure to put parking passes in dashboard can cause large fines.
You will receive the door entrance code a couple of days prior to arrival. If the home is left in good condition prior to your arrival we maybe able to let you arrive early. We ask everyone to leave the home how you found it, it gives everyone a chance to have almost an extra full day extra at the beach!
During the Winter Season the Bodenheimer Center offers 10 eu daily pass for heated indoor pool classes and gym facilities tennis courts etc.
I’m available almost 24/7 everyday of the year. And if I’m not available, I will try and have someone available for you.
As you enter the Rookery 3 Community, you are greeted with a little sail boat and colorful cottages throughout the community.
You will be surrounded by Bon Secour National wildlife reserve. Palm trees outside home. A pool is to the right just as you enter and pass the security stand. This cottage will be the second left street (Mockingbird), directly across from the first pool. A community house and second pool is very close, just cross the bridge and turn left. Bring floats and chairs if all the seating is gone at the pool but it's highly unlikely unless there is a family reunion going on. Parking is available at the second pool or it's just a short walk from the cottage.
At night you just may hear the frogs sing to you or maybe if you're lucky a baby alligator.
Drive to/from town in 20 minutes . Golfcart rentals are in the area if you prefer it for going back and forth to the beach and in the community. Everyone loves renting golf carts as Rookery 3 has trails you can go down which take you directly to the beach. The kids love it ! Some people drive on the bike path or on the sand path on the side of the road also to get to the beach. Easy drive to the grocery store and restaurant, Sassy Bass, on the golf cart as ours is road registered. If you have the right insurance you can do that too.
Bring your bikes with you to the Rookery 3 and ride as there is a bike path on the side of the road. Gulf State park also has bike paths. We have lots of bike trails in the area. Bring your kayaks and go for a trip down mobile bay or off the Kayak paths on Fort Morgan Road. This area is full of adventures, but Rookery3 gives you the peace of mind, calmness, security and comfort of letting your kids out to play without being on guard 24/7 . It’s such a great community. We are all family here .
We are located 20 minutes form Orange Beach. Fort Morgan has several restaurants and shops. 3 miles from Kiva Dunes Golf Course and The Beach Club Spa and restaurants. 4 miles from the Marina and 6 miles from the Ferry to Dauphin Island
Enjoy dolphin cruises, tiki cruises, pirate ships, trampoline park, go to alligator alley or the zoo. Go to the Wharf and Owa with the new indoor water park and roller coasters or Gulf
shores has Waterville outdoor water park. Try Alvin’s Island amusement park or to Gravity Island water park!
Things to do while in Fort Morgan!
Fort Morgan, Alabama is a great year-around destination for a relaxing family vacation! It’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Mobile and neighboring main resort areas of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Yet these areas are only a short drive or ferry ride away.
With its coastal location combined with breezes off Mobile Bay, year-round average daily temperatures here are perfect for outdoor activities. The area is home to a protected wildlife refuge that features gorgeous sand dunes, coastal marshes, and beaches – not to mention the amazing fishing! And don’t forget about incredible birdlife.
For educational experiences, the area has a rich history full of adventure. From historical military forts built during the civil war to serene natural parks that are home to rare plant species found no where else in the world, there is always something new to discover.
Fort Morgan is also home to a big masonry fort which offers a tour and educational opportunities. This is a prime location for a hands-on history lesson. This military memorial commemorates important battles during the Civil War. Be sure to spend some time exploring the on-site museum with interesting exhibits about the history of the area as well as the site tours.
Explore the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail – This unique trail is home to many bird species which migrate to the
area, making it a great place for birdwatching and photography. You’ll find the trail markers on highway 180.
Take a dolphin cruise throughout Bon Secour Bay – During the summer months, dolphin are extremely active in the area providing great opportunities for sightings.
Rent a boat and go tubing, boating or fishing – If you want to go fishing further offshore, consider chartering a boat out of Fort Morgan or Orange Beach and fish for snapper, mahi, and/or grouper.
Visit the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge and Interpretive Center – There are over 7000 acres and four designated hiking trails to explore here as well as an interpretive center. The Pine Beach Trail is one of my family’s favorite hikes as it ends in a secluded stretch of beach. While there, stop by the interpretive center to learn about the flora & fauna native to the area, including alligators and other interesting are countless areas to launch your kayak and explore local waterways. One of our favorite areas to put in at at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Be sure to pick up a trail map when you visit the center so you know where to go.
Enjoy a round of golf – Kiva Dunes is ranked one of the top public golf courses in Alabama per Golf Digest and Golf Advisor.
Take the Mobile Bay Ferry to Dauphin Island – This ferry runs daily from early morning to afternoon. It’s a beautiful ride across Mobile Bay and provides great views of Fort Morgan. The Dauphin Island ferry dock is located conveniently close to wonderful attractions like Fort Gaines and the Estuarium
Visit Fort Gaines – While you are on Dauphin Island, visit this historic fort which paid a significant role during the Civil war. It’s open for self-guided tours of the grounds, several buildings, and the cannons.
Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium – This is a great place for an educational experience. With over 19 miles of trails, you will learn about the coastal habitats and wildlife that call this area home. You can also visit their on-site sea turtle rehabilitation center and research library. For a deeper education experience, book a marine educator-led aquarium tour with your kids.
Karaoke and Dinner at Tacky Jacks – Tacky Jack’s, located next to Fort Morgan Marina, is a fun place for family-friendly entertainment and waterfront dining. A local favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with live karaoke on Thursday and Saturday nights.
Visit the Gulf State Park – This large state park in Gulf Shores offers trails, a beach, fishing pier, and more! You can read more about my experience on the Backcountry Trail here. The beach here is one of the best beaches in Alabama. Be sure to stop by the lodge for a drink while you’re there – the sunset views from this hotel are absolutely gorgeous.
Visit Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve – Located in Fairhope, Weeks Bay has plenty of opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing here. A walk through the reserve’s wetlands and marsh along the well-maintained paths is highly recommended.
Visit the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach – A beautiful art museum displaying area artists is a great stop faway from the beach. Check the class schedule for art classes, as well events in the glass blowing and clay studios.
Visit Mobile Alabama – This historic city is full of history dating back to the Civil War era. There are plenty of things to do in Mobile during your visit including visiting some great museums and restaurants. If you want to see the third of the area’s historic forts, visit Colonial Fort Conde which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Beach Club Plaza has an ice cream store in the merchandise store for all your beach needs , some nice shoes, clothing and accessories. There’s outdoor food trucks with music and games . The Hideaway restaurant with interactive games. The spa for massages facials and pedicures. All this is just 3 minutes away. And not forgetting The Coast restaurant for that nice fine dining evening out looking out onto the beach. What more could you ask for and not waiting in lines and stuck in traffic!
